We made a trade off and didn't start too early (around 10am), but we had to use the engine to raise the anchor. Once the anchor is up and the sails hoisted, we won't need the engine anymore. The first bit we sailed on the jib only, but raised the mainsail after a while too. But because we ad the wind behind us, that resulted in the jib flapping a lot, so we ended sailing on just the jib for most of the time. </p><p><a onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_3975.jpg','Zoom','height=615,width=815,top=100,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_3975.jpg" class="serendipity_image_link"><!-- s9ymdb:590 --><img width="110" height="83" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_3975.serendipityThumb.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; float: right; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" /></a>I loved it. Did most of the steering and navigation. Having sailed when I was young I knew how boats worked, but hadn't navigated before and never sailed a boat this size (32 foot). Fantastic. Of course, with the wind behind us, it was an easy ride, and we were doing around 5 knots fairly constant. The only thing you had to be wary of is the shallows. It's a keel boat and they run kinda deep. Which means you pay good attention to the markers and keep an eye on the depth meter. Nothing too hard really.</p><p><a onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_4014.jpg','Zoom','height=615,width=815,top=100,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_4014.jpg" class="serendipity_image_link"><!-- s9ymdb:591 --><img width="110" height="83" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_4014.serendipityThumb.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" /></a><a onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_3949.jpg','Zoom','height=615,width=815,top=100,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_3949.jpg" class="serendipity_image_link"><!-- s9ymdb:588 --><img width="110" height="83" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_3949.serendipityThumb.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; float: right; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" /></a>We sailed until approx 2pm, when we reached Russel Island and went for anchor there. Access to a very nice little (private) beach. In the evening the wind dropped and the water became very calm. There's was heaps of fish splashing about. </p><p>Next morning was pretty much the same as before, although Rachel was up early. Dan seems to prefer to sleep most of the morning away... We got under way, well, a little anyway, until I managed to run us aground. Only slightly and running the engine in reverse for a bit slowly got us unstuck again. </p><p><a onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_4023.jpg','Zoom','height=615,width=815,top=100,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_4023.jpg" class="serendipity_image_link"><!-- s9ymdb:592 --><img width="110" height="83" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_4023.serendipityThumb.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" /></a><a onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_4049.jpg','Zoom','height=615,width=815,top=100,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_4049.jpg" class="serendipity_image_link"><!-- s9ymdb:593 --><img width="110" height="83" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_4049.serendipityThumb.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; float: right; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" /></a>From there on it was further north and towards Manly. The wind still from behind so a very easy ride. We tried getting more speed out of the boat but more than 6-7 knots we couldn't do. I guess dragging the dinghy probably slowed us down a bit too.</p><p><a onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_4074.jpg','Zoom','height=615,width=815,top=100,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_4074.jpg" class="serendipity_image_link"><!-- s9ymdb:595 --><img width="110" height="83" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_4074.serendipityThumb.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" /></a><a onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_4068.jpg','Zoom','height=815,width=615,top=0,left=340,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_4068.jpg" class="serendipity_image_link"><!-- s9ymdb:594 --><img width="83" height="110" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_4068.serendipityThumb.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; float: right; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" /></a>We got back to manly around 3 or 4pm. Liam, Dan and Rachel managed to get a lot of stuff on the boat, lots which had to be taken off again. As I had only a few days, everything I had fitted in one bag. Good to travel light.</p><p>That was a very fun few days.</p>

<br />
<p>I was meeting up with Liam, Dan, Rachel and Brooke who were already on the boat on the Goldcoast. Took a while till we had figured out where Liam could pick me up along the coastline along the Goldcoast, but we figured it out. As Liam picked me up, he also dropped Brooke off, who apparently had enough.</p><p>One thing I didn't know was that Liam had actually picked up the yacht in Manly and sailed it down to the Goldcoast. The houseboat we would have picked up on the Goldcoast and I kinda figured it would be the same with the yacht. That left me with a dilemma, as my car would be left in the Goldcoast if I came sailing back. And I didn't fancy taking a train on Monday night back to the Goldcoast to drive my wheels back.</p><p><div style="width: 110px;" class="serendipity_imageComment_left"><div class="serendipity_imageComment_img"><font size="1"><a onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_3920.jpg','Zoom','height=615,width=815,top=100,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_3920.jpg" class="serendipity_image_link"><!-- s9ymdb:585 --><img width="110" height="83" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_3920.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a></font></div><div class="serendipity_imageComment_txt"><font size="1">The Boat</font></div></div><div style="width: 110px;" class="serendipity_imageComment_right"><div class="serendipity_imageComment_img"><font size="1"><a onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_3922.jpg','Zoom','height=615,width=815,top=100,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_3922.jpg" class="serendipity_image_link"><!-- s9ymdb:586 --><img width="110" height="83" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_3922.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a></font></div><div class="serendipity_imageComment_txt"><font size="1">The Cockpit</font></div></div>In the end, I decided to bring my car back on Saterday, since the others went to a musical festival for the entire day and night near the Sea Aquarium, we wouldn't be sailing anyway, and I might as well get it out of the way.</p><p>So we set off in the little dinghy, in which I would bring them to the festival, and then go to shore where I had parked my car, bring that home and come back by train. It all sounded very easy. Problem was, we had a lot of headwind in the dinghy and weren't making a great deal of progress. The outboard was only 3hp, and gobbling a lot of fuel in a very short time. When Dan mentioned going to shore and get a taxi instead, it occured to me we might as well use my car. So we did. And I drove back to Brisbane afterwards, treated myself with a quick shower and checked the train timetable. Crap, from the closest trainstation it would take one hour and fourty minutes to go back to the Goldcoast. To be exact, Helensvale, from there it was still a 15 minute cabride to where I left the dinghy.</p><p><div style="width: 110px;" class="serendipity_imageComment_left"><div class="serendipity_imageComment_img"><font size="1"><a onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_3915.jpg','Zoom','height=615,width=815,top=100,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_3915.jpg" class="serendipity_image_link"><!-- s9ymdb:584 --><img width="110" height="83" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_3915.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a></font></div><div class="serendipity_imageComment_txt"><font size="1">Bit Messy</font></div></div>Another option, which I went for was to drive to a trainstation somewhere south of Brisbane and get a train there. Looking at the timetables that would shave off about half an hour of my trip. Better than nothing. Trip to Helensvale (from Park road station) costs $7.80 btw, and is an hour and 15 minute trip. Pretty good I think. I was getting a bit frustrated by the wasted day but there wasn't much I could do.</p><p>At some stage we stopped at Beenleigh, which meant we were getting pretty close. The train took off again, but only for a bit. A little down the tracks it stopped. Having travelled plenty on trains in Brisbane, that wasn't unusual and I didn't think anything of it. Until there was some rattling outside the drivers door (I was sitting close to the drivers section) and the inside door of the drivers cabin opened. The operator that stepped through stopped dead in his track looking at me, and I looked back at him. When it suddenly dawned on me. "We're not going further are we?" I asked him. Nope. Train was going back. 5 minutes later I was on the trainstation. The train that did continue on for Helensvale had just left.</p><p>I got fed up with it and grabbed a cab instead. Cost me $72 but I would have gotten a cab at Helensvale probably too. At least I could make up some lost time now. Luckily the dinghy was still there, as we hadn't been able to lock anything. </p><p>Even the boat was still where we left it. I had a nice quiet evening, listing to the music coming from the festival, which was very loud. Couldn't work out how to start the stove, so ended up eating sandwiches instead, but since I was on the boat, I didn't care that much.</p><p>Later that night, Liam called for a pickup, so I set off in the dinghy again, going to the festival. We were anchored just off Wavebreak Island, and the festival was in the bay next to the Sea Aquarium, which is a considerable distance with the dinghy, fuel wise that is... Being alone in the dinghy meant I was doing good time, but when I picked the bunch up, there was four of us in the thingy. Liam luckily checked the fuel and found the fuel tank pretty much empty. As I had emptied the spare fuel tank already, we had a challenge, at midnight... There were paddles in the dinghy, but that wouldn't be much fun with the distance we had to go. Luckily, there was a boat nearby where people were still up (actually one girl was on board, the other in her own dinghy). We asked them if they could spare some fuel, and as we did, the girl in the dinghy run into her own trouble. The rope used to tie the boat had slipped into the water and wrapped around her prop. Saving her earned us some fuel, and we made it back to the yacht in one piece.</p><p>Exciting times....<br /> </p><br />

<p>We spent the last few days of 2008 and the first of 2009 mostly in the pool in Sharon's backyard. It was just way to hot to do much else. Interesting though, sitting in the pool, the occasional thunderstorm coming over, tropical rain...</p><p>Although we didn't do much, we had good fun in the pool, sipping wine, swimming, floating, doing stuff.</p><p>On Thursday, we decided we had to get out of the house a bit and went to Noosa, for lunch, walking around the water, watching boats. The restaurant <a href="http://www.riveredgebistro.com.au/">Riveredge Bistro</a> in Noosaville along the river (can't believe I've never been to this part of Noosaville before) was excellent. Fantastic food (we had a salad with scallops, and though I'm not normally one to care much for scallops, these we're absolutely delicious), and great espresso.</p><p>Come Friday (days fly when you're having fun), Liam gave me a call where to go for the sailboat trip. Liam organised a sailboat trip (which was originally a houseboat trip), as a way of saying goodbye to 2008 and hello to 2009. I however, wanted to spend NYE with Sharon, so couldn't make the first part.</p>

<p>I had planned to take off nice and early on Saturday morning December the 27th. Didn't work out that way, as I had still a few things to do and sort out before I could get on my way. It was getting close to 10:30am before I was actually on my way. I had hoped to win a kayak on ebay (which ended last evening) and which I would have picked up from near Mooloolaba the next day if possible, but alas, didn't win it.</p><p><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5719.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5719.jpg','Zoom','height=548,width=815,top=133.5,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:596 --><img width="110" height="73" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5719.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a>I was heading north anyay, a few of my Dutch friends were staying on a camping near Kenilworth and I figured I might as well go visit them and drive around a bit there. As I was a little later than I had thought, I took the freeway north to make up some time. </p><p><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5721.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5721.jpg','Zoom','height=548,width=815,top=133.5,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:597 --><img width="110" height="73" style="border: 0px none ; float: right; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5721.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a>Yeah right. Near Murrimba Downs congestion happened. I took a turn away from the freeway and made my way up to Maleny/Kenilworth through backroads, and wasn't alone in ding so. At least I was able to keep driving a reasonable pace and make fair time. I heard later that some people took up to 3 hours to get to Maleny that day... Sitting on the freeway.</p><p><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5732.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5732.jpg','Zoom','height=548,width=815,top=133.5,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:598 --><img width="110" height="73" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5732.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a>Considering noone was home at the campgrounds (beautiful area btw), I went for a walk first and see if they were back by the time I was done. There's a short walk to a goldmine (about 3km return trip) which I ventured to. Near the goldmine is a circuit and I walk the short walk there first and took the long way back. Interesting walk, the long walk you really have to look closely where the path is, at times it almost completely disappears.</p><p><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5734.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5734.jpg','Zoom','height=548,width=815,top=133.5,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:599 --><img width="110" height="73" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5734.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5766.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5766.jpg','Zoom','height=548,width=815,top=133.5,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:606 --><img width="110" height="73" style="border: 0px none ; float: right; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5766.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a>The goldmine is closed off and no longer used, only some 60 meters deep. Bats live in it now. Coming back Annemiek and Tjarco and Hylke, and Marjolein and Sven and his boyz where there, so I joined them for a bit, grabbed some of their lunch.</p><p><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5768.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5768.jpg','Zoom','height=548,width=815,top=133.5,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:607 --><img width="110" height="73" style="border: 0px none ; float: right; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5768.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5738.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5738.jpg','Zoom','height=548,width=815,top=133.5,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:600 --><img width="110" height="73" style="border: 0px none ; float: right; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5738.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a>Taking off I decided to go to Jimna (where I bought the blue Paj that's now in the garage), and stayed on a State Forest campground called Peach Trees. Again, beautiful area. Roo's roam the campground, looking for food, between tents and chairs as well. You really have to make sure nothing is left around, as they will find it and try and get to food. There were also a few Roo's with a joey.</p><p><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5741.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5741.jpg','Zoom','height=548,width=815,top=133.5,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:601 --><img width="110" height="73" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5741.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5742.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5742.jpg','Zoom','height=548,width=815,top=133.5,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:602 --><img width="110" height="73" style="border: 0px none ; float: right; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5742.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a>I found myself a good spot (after paying a whopping $4 something for a night), ate and drank some wine. It started raining later in the evening (same as last year) but this time I was better prepared with a rainproof shade and my RV Shade.</p><p><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5747.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5747.jpg','Zoom','height=548,width=815,top=133.5,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:604 --><img width="110" height="73" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5747.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5761.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5761.jpg','Zoom','height=548,width=815,top=133.5,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:605 --><img width="110" height="73" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5761.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a><a onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5745.jpg','Zoom','height=548,width=815,top=133.5,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5745.jpg" class="serendipity_image_link"><!-- s9ymdb:603 --><img width="110" height="73" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Holidays/Xmas-NYE2008/IMG_5745.serendipityThumb.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" /></a>Next morning I woke up and packed everything back up. Drove around a bit and then headed back home. Just didn't feel like camping further. Didn't have much todo in the evenings. Just wasn't as much fun as it used to be.</p><br />

<p>Every year Cardno closes it's doors over Xmas and NY. Days that are not public holidays are normal leave days. Don't think anybody cares about that. Time off is time off. Not that I care too much about these holidays that I have to have time off, but its nice all the same. I did several things to pass the time and keep myself busy. Also learned a few things along the way.</p><p>I don't like camping by myself anymore. Just doesn't do it for me. Not anymore. Off roading is loads of fun, and being able to go almost anywhere is great fun too, camping with a bunch of people is great fun too, but not by myself, and not sleeping in the car.</p><p>The first few daysof the holiday I tinkered with my car, getting things ready, and ripping the other blue Paj apart. That was fun. After that I went camping a bit, and that's when I concluded it wasn't me anymore.</p><p>Darn.</p><p>Another thing I learned is that an old love has re-emerged. Sailing. Used to do that on and off when I was young, and having sailed over the break, I definitely want to get back onto the water more.</p><br />
