Petra wanted to drive through the Glass House Mountains one last time, and videotape it along the way. So we started off driving to Samford, then Dayboro, stopped at North Pine River (just before you enter Dayboro) for a short walk. Turns out there's a mighty nice 4WD track along the river... Gonna have to try that with the Pajero sometime...</p><p><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3176.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3176.jpg','Zoom','height=615,width=815,top=212,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:273 --><img width="110" height="83" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3176.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3178.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3178.jpg','Zoom','height=815,width=615,top=112,left=340,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:274 --><img width="83" height="110" style="border: 0px none ; float: right; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3178.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a>From Dayboro we went on to Mt Mee, from there on to Woodford, and Maleny. I took a side road just ahead of Maleny (Burnett road) which I discovered on my Xmas camptrip. It's a very nice windy backroad that eventually leads to Maleny.</p><p>We got out in Maleny and walked a bit through the town. We've been through a couple of times, but never actually bothered to get out. Mistake of course and while it's not as pretty as Montville, is certainly worth a stop. It's got heaps of restarants, cafe's, shops and stuff. From there on we went back a little and took Maleny Mountain <a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/STC_3185.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/STC_3185.jpg','Zoom','height=615,width=815,top=212,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:283 --></a></p><div class="serendipity_imageComment_left" style="width: 110px;"><div class="serendipity_imageComment_img"><font size="1"><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/STC_3185.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/STC_3185.jpg','Zoom','height=615,width=815,top=212,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:283 --><img width="110" height="83" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/STC_3185.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a></font></div><div class="serendipity_imageComment_txt"><font size="1">View over Glass House Mountains</font></div></div><div class="serendipity_imageComment_left" style="width: 110px;"><div class="serendipity_imageComment_img"><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3190.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3190.jpg','Zoom','height=615,width=815,top=212,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:275 --><img width="110" height="83" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3190.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a></div><div class="serendipity_imageComment_txt"><font size="1">View from Montville</font></div></div>View road, which gives you a spectacular view of some of the famous Glass House Mountains. In Palmwoods we followed the train tracks south for a bit which eventually got us onto the Glass House Mountains road which leads past the Australia Zoo, Steve Irwins old home.<p /><p><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3207.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3207.jpg','Zoom','height=615,width=815,top=212,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:280 --><img width="110" height="83" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3207.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3210.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3210.jpg','Zoom','height=615,width=815,top=212,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:281 --><img width="110" height="83" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3210.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3202.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3202.jpg','Zoom','height=615,width=815,top=212,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:279 --><img width="110" height="83" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3202.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a>The sun was starting to set by now, turning the sky in a beautiful krimson color. A bit beyond Beerwah I decided to turn off a bit to attempt to get a better view of some mountains to our right. They were beautifull in the sunsetting light. In doing so, I found another mountain walk we can try one day, onto Tibrogargan mountain. While not as high as Mt Warning (a mere 364 meter) it's still a 2 hour return. Bet you can see a sunset or sunrise from the top really well too...</p><p><a class="serendipity_image_link" href="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3213.jpg" onclick="F1 = window.open('/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3213.jpg','Zoom','height=615,width=815,top=212,left=240,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes'); return false;"><!-- s9ymdb:282 --><img width="110" height="83" style="border: 0px none ; float: right; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://www.olgisoft.com/LifeinOz/uploads/Daytrips/IMG_3213.serendipityThumb.jpg" /></a>We got our pictures though, from the first lookout, only 430meter from the picknick area, and just a little way up. From there we continued to old Gympie road and back to the Glass House Mountains road. From there to Caboolturee, and over the freeway back to Brisbane. It was well and truly dark at 6:30 pm as we got back.</p><br /><br />
